Over 60 attendees joined in the celebration marking the 7th anniversary of
the Nehemiah Center on April 20, 2009. The program included times of
remembrance, recognition, prayer and praise as well as several testimonies
by current and former staff members about the journey of transformation the
Nehemiah Center has seen over the past seven years in its vision and effort
to 'rebuild the walls of Nicaragua.'
The large audience present to celebrate the occasion included Nehemiah
Center staff as well as pastors, educators, and other community leaders
connected with the work of the Nehemiah Center.
Joel Huyser, one of the founders of the Nehemiah Center, was also honored
during the ceremony for his years of dedication and leadership of the
organization. Towards the end of the ceremony there was a symbolic moment
when he officially "passed the baton" to Daniel Boniche, a member of the
Nicaraguan Ezra Training Team who has now become the Nehemiah Center
Director. This formal transfer of leadership and responsibility "represents
a key part of the original vision for a Nicaraguan to lead the Nehemiah
Center," said Joel Huyser.
It was a joyful day to celebrate God's faithfulness, mark the organization's
progress thus far, and consider opportunities for continued growth in the
future.
